Projects: Your Collaborative Workspace

As data and AI initiatives grow, assets become scattered, business context is lost, and managing who has access to what becomes a significant challenge. Projects are Arkham's answer to this complexity. A Project is the central, collaborative workspace where you organize all the resources for a specific business outcome.

For a builder, a Project is the launch pad that transforms a collection of technical assets into a cohesive, understandable, and governed business solution.

How Projects Bring Order to Your Work

At its core, a Project groups together disparate resources and links them with business context and a unified permissions model.

This model provides several key benefits:

  • Discoverability: Instead of searching for individual assets, builders can navigate to a Project to find everything related to an initiative.
  • Context: The Project Canvas allows you to document the "why" behind the work, providing crucial business context right alongside the technical assets.
  • Simplified Governance: Permissions are managed at the Project level, simplifying access control across dozens of resources.

Key Features for Builders

  • Project Canvas: A free-form, Notion-style editor where you can document your project's goals, methodologies, and findings. You can use @ mentions to link directly to any resource in the Arkham platform, creating a rich, interactive document.
  • Project Files: A unified, filterable list of every resource associated with the project. This gives you a complete, at-a-glance inventory of your pipelines, datasets, workbooks, and models.
  • Inherited Role-Based Access Control (RBAC): Assign users or groups to Viewer, Editor, or Owner roles at the Project level. As described in the Governance Overview, these permissions are automatically inherited by every resource contained within the project. This ensures a consistent, auditable, and easy-to-manage security model that scales with your initiative.

Core Components

  • Project Header: Displays the project name and emoji. From here, you can share the project, view details, and save any changes.
  • Project Switcher: Located in the main OS toolbar, this allows you to quickly navigate between all the projects you have access to.
  • Project Home Dialog: A centralized view to see all your projects, search for them, and create new ones.
  • Governance Overview: Understand how Projects fit into the broader security and governance architecture.
  • Pipeline Builder: Create the data transformation pipelines that are organized within a Project.
  • Workbooks: Build the analytical applications that are managed and permissioned through a Project.
  • Pipeline Monitoring: Track the executions of pipelines that belong to your Project.
